Introduced in 1942, the J-45 is one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever created – in many ways the perfect workhorse guitar for both stage or studio, with great tone and fantastic playability. It is one of the most recorded acoustic guitars in history and Gibsons best-selling acoustic model of all time. The all-new J-45 Special builds on this rich history, and brings the magic of this iconic model to the masses.

 

This beautiful Sunburst example is only weeks old and in near-mint condition - just a tiny blemish out of sight on the rear if being picky (see photo). Everything works as it should without issue.

 

The J-45 Special features a traditional round-shouldered body crafted from solid Mahogany and solid Sitka Spruce. The classic scalloped X-bracing design allows the top to vibrate freely, resulting in a powerful tone. This combination of tonewoods delivers a warm, balanced tone with excellent dynamic range that is perfect for any style of music. The concert depth body is slightly thinner than on a J-45 Standard, giving it a leaner and tighter bass response that sits perfectly in the mix and also makes it easier to hold. 

 

The Utile neck is attached to the body with a compound dovetail joint and is affixed with hot hide glue, which ensures great stability no matter the situation. The neck has a comfortable feeling SlimTaper profile, which allows for quick, fast movements. The Rosewood fretboard has a 12 radius, 20 frets, a 24.75 scale length, a 43.815mm nut width, and mother-of-pearl dot inlays.

 

High-quality Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure excellent tuning stability, and it is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp with an easy-to-access soundhole-mounted volume control, so its stage and studio-ready at a moments notice. Other features include a belly-up rosewood bridge, and TUSQ saddle, nut, and bridge pins It comes complete with its premium padded gig bag and its paperwork etc.
