This recently launched Epiphone 'Inspired by Gibson' 57 reissue Les Paul Custom is a meticulously crafted guitar with premium Gibson USA Custombucker pickups, and designed to deliver the tone, feel, and aesthetics of a classic late-'50s Les Paul at a more accessible price. 

 

This example is only weeks old, and would be mint were it not for a very minor blemish on the side (pictured). It even still has it's wrap left on the pickguard ready for removal.

 

Developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom, this model faithfully recreates the specifications of the original 1957 Goldtop, one of the most influential electric guitars in music history. With a solid mahogany body and a carved plain maple cap, this construction provides a balanced tonal foundation - warm and resonant from the mahogany, with added clarity and brightness from the maple top. The new Vintage Gloss finish gives the instrument a historically inspired appearance, with a lightly aged look that retains a clean, refined aesthetic.

 

The neck is a one-piece mahogany design with a long tenon joint and a 1950s Rounded Medium C profile, offering excellent sustain, structural integrity, and a familiar feel for players who prefer a more substantial grip. The rosewood fretboard is adorned with mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays and features 22 medium jumbo frets, ideal for both smooth bending and accurate intonation. Additional vintage-accurate features include historically sized side dot markers and a Gibson-style open-book headstock with an aged Epiphone logo and "Les Paul Model" silkscreened in gold.

 

Hardware choices remain true to the period and enhance both tone and reliability. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium Stop Bar tailpiece contribute to rock-solid tuning stability and effective string vibration transfer. Nickel plating throughout the hardware offers classic looks with modern durability. The Epiphone Deluxe tuners feature Single Ring Keystone buttons, another period-correct touch that supports consistent tuning performance.

 

Electronics are a standout feature of the 1957 Goldtop Reissue. The guitar is equipped with two USA-made Gibson Custombucker pickups featuring Alnico 3 magnets. These pickups are known for their warm, vintage tone and dynamic response, capturing the essence of early humbucker sound. They are hand-wired to high-quality CTS potentiometers, Luxe "Bumblebee" paper-in-oil capacitors, a Switchcraft pickup selector toggle, and a Switchcraft 1/4" output jack - all premium components selected to preserve tonal integrity and ensure long-term reliability.

 

To complete the package, the guitar comes in a historically inspired hardshell case featuring a brown exterior, plush pink interior, and Gibson Custom graphics. It's paperwork is also included.
