This limited-edition Murphy-Aged signature 1964 Firebird V in Polaris White is a replica of Johnny's legendary guitar and has been crafted by the Gibson Custom Shop. It does justice to the legacy of the late great Blues & Rock master and is 1 of only 125 made.

 

This 1964 Firebird V isn't just based on Johnny's guitar but is a precise replica of the one he owned and loved. Notable features include the plugged holes from where the Maestro Vibrola was removed, the faded iconic Firebird logo and even the lack of a reflector on the rhythm tone pot.  It doesn't get much more convincing than this!

Each Murphy Lab guitar is painstakingly aged to look and feel like a guitar you've owned for years. In this case, it captures the spirit of Johnny's bashed and chipped Firebird. The aging process under Tom Murphy's guidance has taken a leap forward, with the new nitrocellulose lacquer recreating the look of a guitar that has spent years in and out of its case with its wood moving to create that authentic checking and highly accurate recreation.

 

It has been crafted from a 9-ply mahogany/walnut neck-through-body and mahogany wings, giving it a robust construction that sings with sustain. It has an Authentic '64 medium C profile neck which is aged incredible in the hand, Indian Rosewood fretboard with 12" radius and banjo tuners.

 

The Alnico 5 Firebird pickups make sure that a well-voiced Blues tone is well within your grasp. Plug into your amp of choice, add some gain, and you have Rock power on hand too. There's a special quality to these pickups that set them apart from everything else. They have a lovely strong top end presence that can really deliver an aggressive tone when needed.

It comes complete with its original signature Custom Shop hardshell case to keep this special guitar protected, all of its paperwork, and extra candy including an 8x10 photograph signed by legendary photographer Mick Rock.
