Desirable Firebird V reissue from a desirable period for Gibson - finished in the rarer Cardinal Red.

 

It's in very good condition for a 36 year old vintage guitar, with some wear and blemishes, but no breaks or repairs. It's starting to age beautifully with some barely visible lacquer checking lines on close inspection and there's a couple of marks on the bottom of the headstock from a wall hanger. The frets have some minor wear as you'd expect but only cosmetic and not affecting playability at all - there's plenty of life left in them. Everything works as it should without issue.

 

An undisputed player's favourite, the Gibson Firebird V has been a constant in the Gibson roster since the early '60s. Favoured by some of the world's greatest players, including most famously Johnny Winter, Warren Haynes and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Allen Collins, this Firebird pays tribute to the rich history of this iconic guitar.

 

It's easy to play with it’s comfortable C neck profile. The mahogany body and neck-through construction add to it’s excellent resonance and sustain and a Maestro vibrola has been fitted to give it that '63' styling. The iconic Firebird-style headstock and banjo-style tuners and logo pickguard complete the Firebird V’s distinctive look.

 

The 495R & 495T mini-humbucking pickups this Firebird delivers a smooth but full tone with plenty of clarity and sustain. These pickups are re-known for great treble response, a bit like a single coil. Perfect for cutting through the mix with vintage warmth and modern punch, but also sounding great when driven hard.
