1985 Gibson Designer Series Explorer – Ebony

Super-rare and limited-edition vintage Gibson Explorer with tremolo, and custom factory ‘Designer Series’ finish.

 
It’s in very good condition for a 41 year-old vintage guitar with just the usual signs of wear – purely cosmetic, with no breaks or repairs. There’s some nicks and blemishes, some wear at the bottom of the headstock where the guitar has been on a wall-hanger, some minor lacquer checking and light surface marks on the back. The frets are also in great condition for age.

The spec includes a Mahogany body with its striking custom (factory) paint job, a Mahogany neck with comfortable slim profile, Rosewood fretboard, dot inlays and gold hardware. It also has Grover tuner, a locking Kahler tremolo with adjustable roller saddles, and locking nut. The Gibson pickups are uncovered and powerful ‘Dirty Fingers’ humbuckers – for pure rock tone.

It plays beautifully and does comes complete with its original Gibson hard case (1 catch missing but 3 are working and its fully functional) and its trem-arm.
