In 1979, Fender celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Stratocaster (introduced in 1954) with the first “anniversary” instrument, and the first Fender instrument to be issued in a pre-determined and numbered, limited quantity. This is an absolutely exceptional example with very little in the way of blemishes (we've exaggerated some on our photos to exaggerate them as they are barely visible otherwise). It's certainly a guitar that will appeal to both collectors and players and is the cleanest example for sale in the UK, despite being priced significantly lower than other examples with more wear.
The 25th Anniversary Stratocaster is significant for a number of reasons. It represents both a look behind and a look ahead for Fender. Features of note include: reversion to the four bolt neck plate; abandonment of the “bullet” truss rod adjustment in favour of the truss rod adjustment at the body end of the neck. The specs on this example include an Ash body, a one-piece maple neck with a C-shape profile, maple fretboard with 7.25" radius, commemorative logo backplate, Fender tuners, three single-coil pickups, and a 5-way selector switch for versatility. It comes with its original Fender hard case and tremolo for completeness.
