1966 Fender American Telecaster – Blonde

Super-collectible vintage 1966 American telecaster finished in Blonde, and with some modifications.

Importantly the key elements (body, neck, tuners, pickups, ashtray bridge, neck plate etc) are all the original parts.

 

The original finish was sanded off at some stage of its life, but was pro-refinished 6 years ago, to bring it back to its original Blonde colour. The finish has a very vintage feel, with light wear to its thin nitro finish.

 

The body has also had some extra contouring to make it more comfortable to play - a belly cut and subtle forearm contour (similar to a strat). There is some minor extra routing where at some stage it may have had a mini-switch installed, but this is hidden under the pickguard.

 

In terms of the electrics, it has the original pickups which sound superb. One pickup has been rewound at some stage, and it now has modern wiring with updated pots/knobs/switch and pickguard.

 

It's very lightweight at only 6lb 14oz and it plays beautifully with a silky smooth Maple neck and a low action. The frets are in excellent shape.

 

The refinish and the wiring updates were all completed by the highly regard Bob Barry (Birmingham luthier). The guitar has been thoroughly checked over, and we have lots of internal photos upon request.
