Iconic vintage Gretsch USA ‘Country Club’ finished in Sunburst. One of the premier archtops to come out in the 1950s.
In very good condition for a 69 year old guitar. Various wear and blemishes as you’d expect given its age. A surface scratch at the top of the neck but this is just on the surface coat and the guitar has been thoroughly checked over with UK blacklight and has certainly not had any breaks or repairs. It plays beautifully and everything works as it should without issue.
The 17” body and nearly 3 ½ depth combined with the long scale yielded a powerful instrument with great acoustic volume. The original Dearmond Dynasonic single coil pickups provide the unmistakeable tone of the 50s Gretsch sound with clear bell like chime and great definition.
It has a 3 piece Maple neck with comfortable medium C profile, that sports a ‘hump block’ inlayed Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard (highly desirable – CITES paperwork included). The original tuners were worn and have been replaced with period Grover Imperial tuners.
This guitar would make a superb future investment and it comes complete with its original case to protect it. The case is fully functional and in very good condition - we suspect it may have had a replacement handle at some stage.
