Launched in 1931, the L-00 was an industry standard for many years. This stunning example is from 1933 (they year which the Gibson Murphy Lab replicate on their aged reissues) only this is the real thing! The 'FON' number is 733.
It is in excellent condition for a 94 year old guitar - with lots of lovely ageing and lacquer checking on close inspection. Some wear to a few frets but purely cosmetic and lots of life left in them. Structurally sound and a fantastic example.
It has a 14-fret 3/4" body, a 24.75" scale, spruce top with binding, scalloped X bracing, mahogany back and sides, and a figured tortoise pickguard. It is a moderately chunky neck profile which fills the hand perfectly thanks to its soft-V profile. The tuners have been updated at some stage in its long life.
It has excellent projection and a full sound for its relatively small size - and this example plays beautifully for a guitar of this age. It's paired with a quality fitted Gator case to keep this investment guitar protected.
