Gibson Custom Shop CS-336 Figured finished in Tangerine Burst. Stunning flame top on this one that we've photographed in both studio and natural light for comparison.

It is in excellent condition with just a couple of minor blemishes on close inspection (photographed) and this model is often regarded as a “ES-335 for Les Paul players” - perfect for those who want a semi-hollow but prefer a more compact body. It is also very lightweight at only 7lb! 

The CS-336 was Gibson Custom Shop’s first “Tonally Carved” Guitar. In essence, the body of the CS336 is carved out of one piece of Mahogany, delivering a centre block effect, with tonal chambers either side. The CS-336 delivers the classic look of the ES-335 with its elegantly tapered figured-top but the Custom Shop’s engineers have enhanced the CS-336’s playability.

 

Although the CS-336 has the same body lines as the ES-335, the model is scaled down to provide solidbody-style comfort, and its neck has the slim C profile. To create truly great resonating properties, the back and sides of the CS-336 are a single piece of mahogany that is shaped inside and out like a classic Gibson archtop, but with a solid centre beam running the length of the body from the neck tenon to the tail block. The 336’s solid, two-piece maple top is also carved inside and out to the shape and thickness of ES-series archtops, but it, too, has a solid centre section that matches up to the centre block of the body.

 

It has 2x '57 Classic humbuckers pickups along with traditional volume/tone pots, 3-way selector switch, and an ABR-1 bridge. The hardware is nickel, and the body’s top and back have a stylish single-ply binding which is classic Gibson Styling. The scale length is the traditional Gibson 24.75 inches, and the guitar sports 22 medium jumbo frets and Kluson deluxe green-key tuners.

Finally it comes complete with its original hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity as pictured.
