Introduced in Nashville during 2002, and built as a limited production run in the Memphis Custom Shop, the Gibson ES-137 Classic is intended to combine two of Gibson's most successful designs - the resonance of the thinline archtop ES models, and the solidity of the Les Paul classic. However, this instrument is thicker than a thinline model, and uses mahogany instead of maple for the centre block.

This beautiful early example is finished in Tri-Burst and has a sensational flame top. We've included photos of the guitar in natural light as that tends to represent the flame more accurately than studio photography. It's in excellent condition with just minor blemishes that we've highlighted on the photos under direct lighting to exaggerate them and make them more visible than in reality. Has had a refret at some stage and the frets are in excellent condition.

Bringing together the florentine cutaway, arch top body with the solid Mahogany centre block, and using most of the hardware from a Les Paul including the 490R/498T humbucker pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, the ES-137c is a very versatile guitar and has a comfortable rounded profile neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Grover tuners, gold hardware and its original hard case to keep it protected
