2005 Fender Custom Shop Rory Gallagher Artist Heavy Relic Stratocaster – Sunburst

Fender Custom Shop designers met Donal Gallagher, brother of late great guitarist Rory Gallagher, in Los Angeles in 1997 and received one of the most coveted guitars of all time – Gallagher’s heavily worn 1961 Strat. Fender initially built 40 replicas for European sale, but were subsequently besieged with requests for more, and this stunning, mint condition is one of the desirable very early production models, that were created under the direct supervision of John Cruz.

The Rory Gallagher Tribute Stratocaster guitar is an exact replica of that revered instrument, down to the extremely worn 3-colour Sunburst alder body, silky smooth C-profile maple neck and a particularly dark Rosewood fingerboard. The colour on this example is an accurate match vs the original Rory guitar, unlike more recent models where Fender appear to have modified the colour slightly.

It even has some nice signature details such as the five Sperzel tuners and one Gotoh tuner, and the 12th-fret dot marker is white plastic rather than the original clay. It also features aged chrome hardware, 21 medium jumbo frets a trio of custom-wound ’60s single-coil pickups which sound incredible. We have checked the wiring on this guitar and it is probably the tidiest guitar we've ever come across 'under the bonnet'.

It plays beautifully and comes with its original case, its COA, paperwork, trem arm and candy etc as pictured.
