1985 Gibson Designer Series Explorer – Ebony

Super-rare and limited-edition vintage Gibson Explorer with tremolo, and custom factory ‘Designer Series’ finish.

It’s in very good condition for a 40 year old vintage guitar with just the usual signs of use – purely cosmetic, with no breaks or repairs or big and nasty dings. There’s some minor nicks and blemishes, a couple at the bottom of the headstock where the guitar has been on a wall-hanger, some minor lacquer checking and light surface scratches on the back. It’s in great shape, looks amazing, and the frets are also in great condition for age with only minor wear.

The spec includes a Mahogany body with its striking custom paint job, a Mahogany neck with comfortable slim profile, Rosewood fretboard, dot inlays and gold hardware. It also has Grover tuner, a locking Kahler tremolo with adjustable roller saddles, and locking nut. The Gibson pickups are uncovered and powerful ‘Dirty Fingers’ humbuckers – for pure rock tone.

It plays beautifully and comes complete with its original Gibson hard case (1 catch missing but 3 are working and its fully functional) and its trem-arm.
