Iconic early 70's vintage Les Paul Custom finished in classic Ebony.

The first unique element of this guitar is how light it is – only 8lb 4oz! Given 70’s LP Customs tend to be a back-breaking 10-12lb in most cases, it's likely that the pancake body has been chambered at some point to provide some weight relief – although we have no way of checking if this is the case. Regardless, the result is all the tone and cool looks of a vintage Les Paul Custom but at an incredibly light weight, and is exactly the reason why out of all of the 300+ guitars we stock at any one time, THIS was chosen as the gigging guitar for Steve Jordan (Jordan Guitars director) for the past year. The amount of compliments this guitar got at live shows was unbelievable, and we will be sad to see it go – it is a weapon!

In terms of the general condition there is various wear and dings as you’d expect given it's 51 years old. When it came into us there were a few deeper dings on the back of the neck, so these were drop-filled to ensure a smoother finish which isn’t noticeable when playing. The binding is ageing beautifully and checking in places. We’ve photographed the blemishes under direct studio light to exaggerate them significantly on the images vs typical lighting conditions. The original frets are in exceptional condition. Critically there are no headstock breaks/repair and everything works as it should.

It has a Mahogany body/maple top with Custom binding, comfortable medium profile neck with premium Ebony board, Custom block inlays, Diamond headstock inlay, volute for extra headstock strength and its original tuners. The gold hardware has tarnished and aged heavily so it’s closer to nickel now than gold, which looks great! There are a couple of modifications, the bridge is a Gotoh upgrade, and the pickups are quality humbuckers removed from a modern Gibson Les Paul Custom. The pots are original and it comes with a Gibson hard case to keep it protected.
